OH MY GOSH. HELP.

First off, I must say that I love my little boy so much. That being said, I have to be honest. This motherhood thing is so hard for me. Asa cries most every waking moment. The only time he seems content is when he is nursing or asleep. It is rare that I can comfort him for any amount of time unless I am up and bouncing him and constantly changing his positioning. I lay him down and just let him scream sometimes, but even that is terribly stressful for me because all I want to do is pick him up and do my best to comfort him. The last two days have been especially bad with Asa only sleeping about 3 hours during the day and crying the remainder of the time. I got worried that something was wrong so we took him to the pediatrician tonight. He is healthy. He has gained a good amount of weight. No fever or signs of any other ailment. He just cries. And cries. And cries. I know this is probably normal for a lot of babies, but I am really struggling to not let it get me down. I hate feeling like I don't know how to comfort my own baby. I really want to enjoy my son and enjoy motherhood, but so often it is hard and tedious work. So...any and all comments, advice, sympathies are welcome! Thanks for letting me vent.

For Natalie!

Natalie! I can't tell you how much your card and gift meant to me! The beanie you made for Asa is the cutest thing in the world! Your gift got to me on a day that I really needed a pick-me-up. Asa had been crying for hours and I was at my whits end and feeling really frustrated that I couldn't discern his needs. (Even though he probably just felt like crying for no reason at all...) I was really bummed out and that is when Berkeley came in with the little package from you. The card said just what I needed to hear and the hat that YOU MADE was icing on the cake! Anyway, I just want you to know that I really appreciate you and your thoughtfulness. You are a great friend. Move back to Utah.

The hat is still a little big, but Asa will grow into it in no time! It still looks darling though! I'm not sure what his facial expression is saying but I think it is his attempt to smile and say "Thanks for my hat Natalie!"

Some Videos and New Pics

Asa wants everyone to know how tall he is! Also, this is the only newborn outfit we have that somewhat fits him. You can see how huge the pants are on his little body.

This one is my favorite!! He was swaddled when I put him down, but when I came back to check on him this is what I found! Also, don't you love the socks on his hands? His fingernails are hard to clip and he scratches himself.

I was trying to get lucky and catch some smiles, so this video is over two minutes long, but really nothing happens after the first 45 seconds or so! I don't know how to cut my videos down in length, so unless you are a grandparent, don't feel obligated to watch the whole thing!

The Long Awaited Meeting!

Last week, my little Asa finally got the chance to meet my best friend, Lexi's little Parker. This has been a long awaited event for Lexi and me. The meeting was...well...pretty much a cry fest from the get go, but I just know they will be good friends someday soon!! I stole these pictures from Lexi's blog cause I couldn't resist sharing. I think they are really funny! You can see how the situation got progressively worse through the course of the pictures.

Healthy!

We had our two week visit with the pediatrician today. It seems Asa is healthy as can be. His birthweight was 6 lbs 3 oz, and today he weighed in at 6 lbs 13 oz! Hooray! I actually am feeding him well! That has been my biggest worry is that he just wasn't getting enough to eat or something. He is still a little guy though. He is only in the 10th percentile for weight and 5th percentile for length! Little is so cute though! The pediatrician said to expect a growth spurt to occur soon, usually around week three to four. I love our little boy so much!

The Three Amigos!

This is a picture of me with my two friends Holley and Brooke who I worked with for the last few years. The three of us found out we were all pregnant within a week of one another! It was crazy!! There was nothing better than being able to go through pregnancy with these two friends. We talked, complained, felt sick, and shared excitement together for the last nine months, but I am happy to say that now all three of us have our little bundles here! From left to right: me (obviously), Holley, and Brooke.

Brooke had her little boy first at the end of January. His name is Aiden.

Then I had our baby, Asa, on February 20th.

Finally, Holley had baby Brooks on February 26th.

I am so happy that all three boys are here safe and sound and look forward to being able to have play dates with each other! Way to go you guys! Now we can complain to one another about our lack and sleep...
