What a Crazy Sunday!!

So Berkeley and I were called on Thursday to meet with one of the BYU stake presidencies on BYU campus. We had no idea why a stake president from a totally different stake would want to meet with us. We went in today and Berkeley was called to be the second counselor in the bishopric for one of the BYU single student wards! So, right after accepting the calling, we were ushered straight into their sacrament meeting. Berkeley was sustained and then asked to speak at the end of the meeting. Right after sacrament, he was set apart and we had a chance to get to know the bishop and the other members of the bishopric. They seem like great guys. It is an exciting and new calling, but we are sad to be away from our own married ward. We love our ward and didn't really have a chance to say goodbye or get used to the idea of not being a part of it for a long time. Most couples who get this calling are in the student ward for at least a year. Hopefully this will be a good experience for both of us, and hopefully we will be able to fit into this single's ward as a married couple. This calling is strange because it seems like we should be older in order to be a residing couple in a single's ward. All the girls are my age. Pray for us because this is a surprise calling and we are both a little bit anxious about it. I am sure it will be great. Berkeley's first response to the news was,"I definitely think this qualifies me to buy a new suit." I agreed.

Holy Crap! Why didn't you tell me this on the phone? No wonder you're not feeling so well today! Wow! What a fun, crazy, exciting, big calling. Good luck to both of you!

Looks like you'll be living in an alternate Raintree universe now. Berk will do great and you guys will have lots of fun I'm sure!

Wow! Berko! That is awesome! Yes, go buy a new suit! That's cool to be in a singles ward, that would def. take some adjusting for both of you. good luck. You obviously have something to teach single people, you must have been great single and so heavenly father wants you to spread your knowledge to others. :)
You will be great as a member of the bishopbric, I wish I had someone as cool as you when I was single! :)

How exciting! You're going to be like one of those "diva wives" who has all the kids over for FHE and makes them food and they love you. And all the single girls will tell you their troubles!

You are right what a crazy sunday. JJ use to be the secratary to set up those interviews and the people were always like "uh sure we can come in to meet with the stake president" That is also probably the last calling I would want for JJ. They usually take the couples with little babies from our ward (because your bishop submits your names to be considered, so our bishop always would pick couples with small children) I was just not ready to leave my friends and my husbands help with my small one on Sundays. It is always wierd, people just dispear one sunday and you never see them. Then you find out they are in the singles ward. You guys will be great. another funny thing from couples who have had this experience. There are some couples who have met and gotten married in the singles ward and then ended up in our ward. So you could have couples get married from your ward and then end up in your married ward. Cool huh. You will make some awesome memories and frieds. Good Luck. And oh by the way, did berk get a new suit?

PS sorry this is long.

So, the first thing Cameron and I did when we heard the news was start laughing. Not because we think it's funny...okay we really do. But we think Berk will be awesome. Then tonight we were in Farmington and Sterling said, "So is Berkeley, like in a bishopric now?" Your mom said yes and he just started to laugh, and then said, "That's awesome, he'll do great." So, I guess just know that we all think this is hilarious, but totally support you and know you'll do awesome!

Oh my stars. I bet that was a huge shock. But how fun! You know all of those single gals are going to always be looking up to you and daydreaming about the day that they finally get married and enjoy the bliss of having a husband. Well we will pray for you. I think that your new adventure will be awesome and maybe a little challenging. have fun! i miss ya.

You two will LOVE this calling. Seth and I were in the same position before we moved into the ward we are in now...your 'home ward' now :0). We loved it, Seth fell in love with all the kids and it was hard for him to go after his year was up. We left when I was about 6 months pregnant, but we still go over to the Bishops house and visit them when we get a chance. It's so true, you will meet some life long friends. It's so fun to have the kids over for FHE as well. It's fun for them to ask 'dating advice' and all that fun stuff. So, which ward are you in?? Wouldn't that be SO funny if you two are in the ward that Seth and I left last year?! Let me know! I can't member the numbers, but Bishop Lee is the Bishop. We will miss you two!

Annie, I didn't know you had a blog! Cool! And what a crazy story. I would feel sad about the whole 'not having a chance to adjust' thing too. And don't you know that being married means you are atomatically smarter than any single person?? So just say a few nice, big words, and they'll think you guys are geniuses!

And for the record, I think it means you can get a new dress too.

Annie!!! I am so glad that you found my blog. I can't believe it has been so long since I have seen you. I'm glad that things are going well with you and your hubs. Good luck with the new calling!

Congrats you two! I have been out of town so I didn't hear the news. I think you both will be perfect for the calling, but we will miss you in our ward.

I'm having a hard time being excited for you 'cause I'm so dang selfish. I'm going to miss you two soooo much! The only thing that makes me feel better is that I'm your VT. And that Scott said we could have you two over once the kitchen was finished. (So put us down for some Sunday in June, will you?)

Oh. Also, I should visit you soon. But today is full of contractions and we're on our way to take Scott in to have his foot x-rayed...

maybe soon. Just remember how much we miss you. (Me especially.)
