Rock!

My little brother David is a rockstar. He is such a talented guy! He taught himself how to play the guitar and the piano and he sings beautifully. Here are a couple videos of him playing around on the guitar. I couldn't get him to sing for me, but he made up both of these songs.

6 Month Stats and Playdate #2

On Friday, I took Asa to the pediatrician for his 6 month visit. He now weighs 15.5 lbs and is 24 inches long. Since I was so close, Holley, Brooke and I got together for another playdate and it was so much fun! The last time we got together, our babies were 3 to 4 months old and Asa cried his face off the whole time. This time our little boys are 6 to7 months old and all were happy and playful. It was so nice to get out and have adult conversation! I love these girls and miss them a ton. Here are some pictures and videos from the playdate.

Play Time!

Centerville Canyon

Tonight we went hiking up Centerville Canyon with my good friend Bethanie, her husband Neil, and their two boys Braxton and Boston. We had a great time!

Asa loves his new hiking pack!

Braxton got a little tired of hiking and started crying. Bethanie dealt with it like this...

Cousin Love!

Cade came over on Sunday to play!

Cade and Asa sitting on Grandma's lap.

Asa being a bully to Cade...

And Cade didn't like it.

Later cousin Bryson came over too!!

Half a Year!

Today Asa is 6 months old. Holy cow. I can't believe how much 6 months can change a little baby. We love our little guy so much! He has been a "wonderful trial" for me and I have grown in so many ways from being his mother. Wow, I have learned patience. I have learned selflessness. I have learned how to take naps during the day again! Here are some photos of Asa's little life so far!
Asa during week one!

And here he is today.

Asa has learned a couple new tricks along the way...

For Liz and Grant. Holla!

Hey you guys! I told you Asa would wear the shirt you got him as soon as he fit into it! He loves his Santa Cruz shirt and the people who gave it to him. Thanks for thinking of us when you went on your vacation!!

Hallelujah!!

My son is now a bottle boy! He loves his formula too! I have been battling a crappy case of mastitis and that pretty much made up my mind to just bottle feed from now on. He is doing very well with it and I am feeling a lot of freedom knowing I can go out from time to time without constantly worrying about his feeding schedule. Also, and this is the best news to date...ASA IS SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!! He goes down at 8 or 8:30 and for the past two nights he has not woken up until 5 or 6 am!! He eats and then goes back down until 8 am usually. Life is GOOOOOOD!

I Have a Predicament...

Let me start by saying that I suggest women only read this post. Trust me men, you really don't care what my predicament is in this case. Anyway, thank heavens, Asa has started taking a bottle again. It was a miracle that all of a sudden two days ago, he had no problems drinking from a bottle even with formula! I had no intention of starting Asa on formula this soon, but I am having some problems that are not allowing me to breastfeed right now. At the moment, nursing Asa is ridiculously painful and pumping is almost just as bad. As a result, I have so much discomfort due to having water balloons for boobs! Argh! I am in some serious pain here! So...I guess my question is...what can I do to either alleviate the discomfort until I can nurse again OR what can I do to make my milk supply dry up?? At this point I am fine with doing formula for Asa. He has had no problems with it at all so far and is doing great with a bottle.

New Car!

Whahoo! Berkeley and I bought a new car yesterday. We used the "Cash for Clunkers" program and traded our truck in. It was a sweet deal. They gave us $4,500 for our '99 Ford Ranger, marked the car down $3,000 and gave Berkeley a military discount of $500. We saved about $8,000 on our new car. We are so excited because our payments on the 2009 Ford Focus are exactly the same as the payments we were making on the '99 Ford Ranger(that I could not drive and we could not put Asa in).

Now friends, there is no need to worry! This gem still belongs to us!! Lucky Berkeley gets to drive this beauty to work now!
