Oh Mom, You Kill Me!

So here is a hilarious story about what happened to my mom the other day...
My little brother David had taken her car to go to work but when he got there he realized that he didn't have on the right shoes. He could not leave so he called my mom to bring him his work shoes. She borrowed my car to go to his work, traded shoes with him and got back into the car. She threw David's shoes into the passenger seat and tried putting the key in the ignition over and over again but it would not work. After a little while and a bit of frustration, she looked around and realized that she was not even in my car. She was in the driver's seat of a total stranger's car and was trying to start it. In a panic, she jumped out of the car, found my car and drove away as fast as possible. She was so grateful no one saw her mistake. Well...she got all the way home, pulled into the driveway and then realized that she had left David's shoes in the passenger seat of the stranger's car. She drove back to David's work and found that the car had not moved, so she pulled up next to it, checked to make sure there were no onlookers and broke into the car again to retrieve my brother's shoes. She left in a hurry once again and finally made it home for good. I love my mom!

I Love Love Love Him!

A lot of the time, parenting makes me feel like this... (Thanks David for capturing this gem of a picture)

But it is all well worth it when I get to see this...

Even though it is hard at times, I love being a mom. Having this little boy in my life is such a blessing and I can't imagine life without him.

Four Years!

Berkeley and I have been married for four years today!! It kind of sucks having an anniversary without your spouse, but we will celebrate when he gets home. I love being married to Berkeley and I am so glad we have such a wonderful relationship. I have the most fun when I am with him and I love having him as my best friend. I look forward to all the years ahead of us.

Plane + Fussy Baby = Nervous Mom

Asa and I are flying to Texas next month to see Berkeley graduate basic training. I AM NERVOUS. Most of you know how fussy Asa can be a lot of the time. By the time we fly, he will be barely 4 months old but I am hoping by then he will have outgrown more of his fussiness. The trip is 6 weeks away and 6 weeks can do a lot for a baby, right? Even so, the thought of flying with my infant in a confined space with lots of people makes me a little jittery. Please, all you veteran moms of flying with infants, give me some advice on how to make it less stressful.

The BEST Day Ever!!

Today Asa and I took a rode trip! First we went to Cedar Hills to visit my best friend Lexi and her little boy Parker. They are visiting from Washington and I couldn't wait to see them again. The first time Asa and Parker met was a cry-fest. This time things went much better!!

Here is a picture from the first time they met...

And here are some videos and some pictures of today's playdate...

After our visit with Lexi and Parker, Asa and I continued our day trip into Provo. On the way there, my phone rang and guess who it was?! BERKELEY! He got to call and talk for 5 minutes which felt like 30 seconds considering we have not had any communication with eachother in the last two weeks. He sounded really good but being away from home is hard. He said basic training is killer and the work outs are ridiculous! It was so good to talk to him. I love him so much and I am so proud of him. Please write him letters!! If you want his address, let me know!

Next, we went to Nathaniel and Dorothy's house to meet their brand new baby girl Summer. She is beautiful and Asa is lucky to have her as a new cousin! Here is a video and some pictures of the sweetheart!

After our visit with Summer, Asa and I went and had a BBQ with our old neighbors. Liz and Grant Campbell and Dave and Jenny Phillips are such great friends and I miss living close to them. Thanks for the good food and fun you guys!

Love It or Hate It??

So, as many of you know, I LOVE the Ellen Degeneres Show. One of the reasons I love her show is because she always has these new bands perform. Recently she had the group "The Bird and the Bee" on and I loved it. Since then I have downloaded tons of their music. I showed this performance to Berkeley and he just laughed and told me how weird they were. He was not a fan. What is your opinion??

And here is another one from the Ellen Show that I must admit is really weird. I love the song by Lady Gaga, but what the heck is up with this performance? What the heck is she wearing??

Happy Mother's Day!

I have the greatest examples of motherhood in my own family and I want my mom and sisters to know how much I love them and look up to them. I had no idea how challenging motherhood could be until I became a mother. Since then, my respect and appreciation for the mothers in my life has increased so much. Here are some pictures of the mothers that I love the most.

My sister Kellie. She is one of the most beautiful people I know inside and out. The love she has for her family is so strong. She would do anything in the world to make her family happy. She is patient, kind and compassionate. I love you Kellie.

My sister Kimberly. Kimberly is an example to me in many ways. She is very driven. When she sets her mind to something, it gets done. She just had her cute baby Cade in December and is doing a great job as a mother. She is the one that keeps me sane when I think my patience is totally gone. She is always good with words of reassurance and a helping hand.

My sister Karen. I look up to Karen for many reasons. She is so much fun! She is like a big kid. She always has the energy and desire to play. Her kids are so lucky because their mom loves to spend time with them doing the things that they love to do. She makes holidays and birthdays very special because she get just as excited about them as the kids do.

My own wonderful mother. What an I even say that would do my mom justice? She has a giving heart and a compassionate soul. She would do anything for anyone and her whole life has been spent serving her family. She is a strong woman and her testimony of the gospel is apparent in her every day living. I love you mom! Thanks for being there for me always.

To all you other mothers out there, especially my wonderful friends, Happy Mother's Day! You guys are the best.

Bouncy Chair Fun

So I bought Asa a new bouncy chair that has toys that hang over it. Every time we put the toys in front of him, he gets these huge smiles on his face. The middle toy is a turtle that has a mirror on it so we think he smiles at his reflection. Asa doesn't enjoy many things (aside from being held) for very long, but this bouncy chair usually will give me anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour of hands free time! Hooray! I was able to catch the bouncy chair magic on video...

Because I Miss Him!!

So I stumbled upon this little wedding video today by accident and thought I would share it with you all. The date at the beginning is totally wrong. We were actually married May21, 2005. I can't believe it will be 4 years this month since we got married. Time sure flies. Enjoy.

Funny Faces and Talking

Asa is very vocal these days and I think it is so cute! Here is a little video of his new found talking talent.

Yum.

Every time I see my baby's belly button, it makes me want a cinnamon roll. I'm sure the picture will explain why...

What a Week.

So on Tuesday morning, Berkeley left to go to Lackland Air Force Base in Texas for Basic Training and Tech Training. What a rough first week it has been without him here. I like to think that I am a fairly independent, strong girl but I have never missed anyone so much in my life. I think it is much harder because of Asa. If it were just me, 5 months apart would be crummy but okay. It is hard with a baby that is only two months old because 5 months will bring about so many changes. I just promised Berkeley I would document everything and take tons of pictures and videos. I took this picture of Berk as he was packing on Tuesday morning. I think his facial expression pretty much sums up the way we feel about this big change in our lives...

If anyone would like to write to Berkeley, just let me know and I can e-mail you his address. I am sure he would absolutely love to receive letters from all who would like to write. I know that letters sure make the time apart from family and friends a lot easier. Thanks for all your love, prayers and support.
