A Hodge-Podge!

Asa is a piano player...well as much of a piano player as a 7 month old can be. He has fun sitting on the piano bench with Berkeley and drumming the keys.

Last Saturday was Governor's Day, and it is tradition to have a "governor's review" of the state's military forces. The members of the Army and the Air Force have a parade at Rice Eccles Stadium where they march in formation, honor and salute the flag, the governor reviews the troops and then gives a speech. Asa and I went to the event and had a lot of fun. I feel such pride and respect towards the military, especially now that Berkeley is serving. I understand much more the kinds of sacrifices these men and women have to make in order to serve our country. I am very proud of Berkeley for his willingness to serve and I know our family will be blessed for it.

Last, I went to visit my sister Karen and her sweet new baby, Owen. He is such a cute little guy. He is very alert and loves to observe the world around him. The triplets are turning out to be great big sisters and brother.

I Know...wha wha wha cry and moan...

I am feeling a little discouraged this week. Being a mom is quite a trial for me at times. Asa and I got off on the wrong foot...for the first 6 months...and I am so glad that he is a happier baby, but man I am tired of being tired all the time. I guess I am going through the phase of thinking the grass is greener on the other side. Its funny because on the one hand I know I would never trade life with Asa for anything but on the other hand I really miss my freedom. I am still a little selfish for my own good. Like today, I looked out the window and saw my little brother taking a nap on a blanket in the sun. I got instantly sad because I just miss having time to myself to do things like that when I feel like it. It is a chore trying to go anywhere as I am scrambling to get the essentials into the diaper bag with one hand while holding onto a baby with the other. Do you get tired of doing things one-handed as well? I have this movie that I have been wanting to finish watching for a couple weeks now...but every time I go to finish it, Asa starts to cry or needs my attention or wakes up from his nap way to early. Last night I had a dream that I rented a hotel room for one single night to spend all by myself. I watched TV, sat in the hot tub, slept in late...then I woke up from my dream to my 5:30 am alarm clock telling me it was time to get up and go to the gym. It's just the simple freedoms that I really miss. Sometimes I feel silly because I only have one baby under my care...how will I ever be able to handle more?? Will I ever truly enjoy life as a mother completely or will it always be a little bittersweet? Granted, Asa has been a tough little guy from the get-go so maybe I am just experiencing the hardest first. Who knows. I figure that I'm not alone in these feelings, so if any of you also need to vent or maybe have encouraging words...feel free...

The Triplets Have a Little Brother!

My sister, Karen, finally had her baby!! We were all so excited when we found out it was a little boy. They named him Owen McAdams Grant. He is such a doll with so much hair. Here are a few pictures of the sweet little guy.

RANDOM...BUT FUN!

Here are some random pictures and videos of life over the last couple of weeks. You'll notice that most everything in this post is of Asa. Well...he is my life...so there you have it.

Asa loves being naked. Asa loves rolling. Asa loves rolling around while naked.

But when he's dressed, he likes to play video games with his cousins, Ema and Lorelei.

Last week, my best friend Lexi came to visit and I took this wonderful picture of her son! When Parker is eating, he opens his mouth so wide that he looks like he is in pain! It is hilarious.

Like Parker, Asa loves his food!! He tends to open pretty big as well and will just keep his mouth open for a while waiting for the spoon to come his way. Here is a video of his eating skills.

Here is a video of Asa in his jumping swing. He loves it and it provides lots of entertainment for us! Also, enjoy the song performed by my mom!

Camping!

A couple of weekends ago we took Asa on his fist camping trip. We went with some friends and we had a lot of fun hanging out around the fire, eating and laughing. Asa slept suprisingly well in the tent. He went to sleep around 9 and didn't wake up until about 4:30, took a bottle, and went back to sleep until 7. The next day, we went fishing. The guys caught quite a few fish and then we got to watch all the kids watch in horror as they were cleaned and gutted. Hilarious. Here are just a few pictures but I will post the rest on facebook.

Dance Like No One is Watching!

Ok, watch the kid in the red shirt! This is bound to get a laugh or two out of you!
