Yes or No?

I have been debating for the last month about whether or not to do a 3D ultrasound. Everyone that I have seen do it comes home with the coolest pictures and keepsakes, and I want to see my baby!! The people at my doctor's office give me pictures that I can't even decipher...looks like black and white blurs... BUT, I am due in two months anyway and the 3D ultrasounds are dang expensive. I am asking your advice, is it worth it? Let me know what you think.

Well, you know that we are thrifty so we didn't get any extra ultra sounds. Matt and I both thought that it would be cool though if you want to pay that much. I know how you feel though. It is hard not to know what your child looks like. I think that not knowing what your little one looks like adds to the excitement of birth when you finally get to meet the little one face to face.

We did one and used the pictures as Mother's Day gifts for our mothers and also for my birthday. I think that you could count it as Christmas presents if you really wanted a way to justify the expense. I loved the pictures and they looked exactly like Sam, but you are right that you only have two more months to go.

With my last baby the tek had some extra time so she did a 3D ultra sound for kicks and no extra charge. The baby had his hand in front of his face so I couldn't see him anyway. It was cool, but not too different from the black and white one that they did. I couldn't see the face like I wanted anyway. You always run the risk of having a baby that won't be in the right posistion for just the right view.

They are way cool. We are extra frugal so of course we didn't get any on either babies but I say if you have the extra cash go for it. They would be cool to have for the baby albums!

we have never done one. We are too cheap. I agree...I can see enough with the black and white cheap ones and then it just adds to the excitement to see what they will trully look like when they are born.

I've heard their fun and they pamper you while you get it done. But at the same time they are super expensive. We thought about it, but never did it just because it costs so much. You'll see your baby in 2 months and those little keepsake pictures of i 3d won't matter anymore because you'll have the baby righ tthere in front o fyou.

We have been having this same debate lately. You really do get some awesome shots of the baby and it would be so fun to see the details of what he looks like. Lance and I decided though that when he is born the pictures we will be hanging up and looking at are going to be of him, not of the ultrasound, or him before he is born. So we decided it would be cool, but probably not worth all the money.

Though they look cool (we could tell that my nephew looked more like his dad) they are not only more expensive but they have higher radiation and are a little risky. We voted no. My coworker's technician did one for free since it was her first child, but I wouldn't pay for it.

The FDA came out with some guidelines a few months ago that might help in your decision.

Check it out.
