PCP, Marajuana, Coke, Meth

Here we go. Last night, I survived the scariest experience of my life. Berkeley and I went to Dinner at the Olive Garden with Jeff and Lexi. Jeff and Lexi drove two cars to dinner, but Lexi wasn't feeling so great after we ate, so Berkeley drove one of their cars home while I drove our car. When we pulled into the driveway entrance of our duplex, I saw a frantic looking man wearing only a pair of shorts running directly towards my car. I was confused and didn't realize that I could be in danger. When I figured out he was running to my car, I only had time to lock my own door (old school car, manual locks). He started pulling my door handle and then went to the back door, opened it, jumped in the back seat of my car, and locked all the rest of the car doors from the inside. He started screaming at me to drive. I freaked out. I couldn't do anything but scream Berkeley's name. Berkeley had pulled in about the same time as me so he saw the whole thing take place. He ran over to my car and was pounding on the windows and screaming at the guy to get out. The guy in my car continued to scream at me to drive, and when I did not drive, he crawled from the back seat into my passenger seat. He screamed, "If you aren't going to drive then get out!" Once again, my car is ghetto. The driver's door is broken so when it is locked from the inside, the door won't open unless it is with the key from the outside. Basically I was trapped inside my car with the psycho criminal. He kept yelling at me to get out and I kept saying, "If I could get out, I would. My door is broken!" He leaned over me, tried to open the door and shove me out. When he realized it really was broken, he began yelling at me to drive again and tried putting my gear into drive. All the while, Berkeley was helpless outside of my car pounding on the windows. About this time, two police officers came running to my car. One came to my side and the other went to the passenger side. The cop on my side yelled at me to roll down my window. I did and he leaned over me and filled the guy's face and my car with pepper spray. Instantly my throat and eyes started burning and I told the cop I couldn't breath. He pulled my head outside the window and hid it in the side of his body. I started breathing much better. The guy in my car continued to fight and would not open the door. About 2 seconds later, I heard a huge crash and a bunch of glass sprayed all over me. The other cop had shattered my passenger window. A bunch more cops had shown up by this time. They had their guns drawn and were trying to open the door but the guy just kept fighting like crazy. The cop on my side then leaned in over me through my window and tazered the guy in the back. The guy kept fighting. The cop tazered him again in the stomach. That basically made the guy freeze so the cops on the other side grabbed him and yanked him out through the shattered window. The guy was almost naked so his body got pretty cut up along with being shocked and pepper sprayed. Even outside of the car, the guy was fighting the cops like crazy. Once he was out of my car, I finally was able to get the keys out of the ignition and unlock my door from the outside. I was shaking so bad I could hardly walk. I just held on to Berkeley until I was steady. Berkeley was pretty shaky as well. The cops cuffed the guy on the ground and then began dumping water all over him to alleviate the pepper spray and wash off all the blood. I didn't care to stay outside so the cops escorted us inside and had us fill out a bunch of paperwork and write statements. The officer told us the guy was running because they had caught him earlier, he had assaulted two cops and got away. He was in possession of drugs and was so doped up on all of the drugs in the title of this post. He was messed up. I just couldn't believe that the guy did not hurt me when I didn't drive or couldn't get out. He was so violent to everyone other than me. He shoved me a little bit but that was it. I was definately being looked out for. I have never felt the need to pray for thanks more than after that event took place. The situation was aweful and terrifying but it could have been a million times worse. I know I was blessed because I felt surprisingly calm afterwards and have not felt much fear or trauma since.

It will probebly take you awhile to feel safe again. Poor Berkeley as well. We are so glad you both were being looked after, and hope you guys are doing okay!!!

Annie, i'm so sorry you had to go through that. With him being on so many drugs, the only explanation why he didn't hurt you would have to be that the lord was watching over you. I've dealt with people like that a couple times growing up and it's the scariest thing, there's no stopping them cause they don't feel the pain and they could care less about whats going on to anyone around them or what their doing to anyone. You are seriously watched over and so happy your ok... physically at least, i'm sure this is something that will be hard to get over mentally.

And who would of thought... in the middle of PROVO! I swear no one is safe anywhere anymore.

Annie, wow I still am thinking about it! I cant believe you are doing so well. I would be a mess. Drew feels for berkeley. How awful for him to just stand there and not do anything! Wow you truly were being watched over, even that night, I cant believe how calm you said you felt. Its really a blessing. Im glad you two are doing well.I hope the police department will let you get a rental. Heck they should buy you any car you want, why did they not tazer the guy when he started assalting them?!?! Why did they let him get to your car! Im just kidding, sounds like they took care of you, and Im sure they did everything they could to protect you and themselves. Good to hear your doing better than I would be. Your amazing

Whoa Annie- What a horrible situation. I feel so bad for you and Berk. I can only imagine how terrified you were - I bet your life flashed before your eyes a few times. And then poor Berkeley out there trying to get to his pregnant wife! I'm so glad you're ok.

That is so so freaky!! I am so glad you are OK -- really. I'm sorry about your car and your eyes -- but I'm glad that this story ended with you and Berk hugging and that the police were close by!

I told this story to the attorneys at my office. They were shocked. Just thought you should know what happened to you is unusual even among the people who do all the criminal appeals in the state of utah.
