Solid foods = Nasty poop! Today I put Asa in the exersaucer to play. I went to the kitchen to get some lunch and when I came back in the living room I noticed something in the base of the exersaucer. I got closer and realized that there was a pile of nasty, thick, brown poop that Asa was stomping in with both his feet. I was confused for a second and for some reason poop had not entered my brain until I heard a big toot and then saw more of the nasty poo run down his leg and join the rest under his feet. What a disgusting mess! I pulled him out and washed him from head to toe. Then I had to clean out the base of the exersaucer and the chair thing. Ugh. Sometimes I literally gag when I am up to my elbows in a mess like that! This is the 3rd time I've had to do clean up after a big blow-out. All I have to say is that introducing solid foods has really made things a lot nastier around this place!

Cat Pee?
I have the cutest little nephew in the world. His name is Ethan. He is two years old and talks so cute. Well, my mom babysat him today and he was in the kitchen crouched behind the table. I overheard the following conversation.
Ethan: "Ganma, I found tap-pee!"
Grandma: "No, I don't think you found cat pee, Ethan. The cat goes pee in the litter box downstairs."
Ethan: "Cat go pee downstairs?"
Grandma: "Yes, the cat goes pee downstairs. It must be water you see on the floor."
Ethan: "Ganma, can I eat the tap-pee?"
At this my mom finally decided to check out what Ethan was talking about. In his cute little grubby hand, he was holding up a piece of TAFFY. My mom had a whole conversation with Ethan about cat pee when really all he wanted was to eat a piece of taffy that he had found. I don't know how old that piece of taffy was, but my mom let him eat it. :)

Tech School
Berkeley got a call from his recruiter today and was told that he will report to tech school on February 14th. I am thrilled. He has over 6 months home still before he has to leave again. The only bummer is that Asa's first birthday is on February 20th...we will just have to celebrate it a week early. Also, what is the deal with the dates of departure? He left for basic training on April 28th...Berkeley's birthday...and now he will be leaving again on Valentines Day. Hmmm. Oh well, I am just glad that he gets to stick around for a while.

Fixing things
Annie just asked me " What is it with boys and hitting things to fix them"
Hitting things fixes a lot of things. I can't count the number of times as a kid I would hit the TV to fix the picture, pound it on the side a few times and ta-da, fixed. My friend Doug and I had cars that would randomly stop and not start again, we would open the hood, jiggle some stuff around and maybe pound on a few things, get back in the car and drive away, car fixed. The cd player starts skipping, give it a good knock, fixed. light bulbs that wont work, lamps, tape players, radios, x-box, nintendo, computerss, most things electronic.
Annie likes to hit her husband to get him to work, this is my silent cry for help, spousel abuse! Just kidding, annie doesn't hit. I'm sorry about the joke for those of you that have a wife that does hit.
Needless to say, hitting things has worked for me more often than not, so next time you see your husband hitting something to fix it, don't look at him like he's stupid, he is just doing what has worked for him since he started playing nintendo.
If you can think of other things that can be fixed by hitting them I would love to know, but thats all I could come up with at the moment.

What's Going On, You Ask?
Here's the low-down on life for us right now. Berkeley is enjoying being home and spending time with Asa and myself. Yesterday he introduced Asa to the wonderful world of FIFA Soccer. Here they are playing together...
Berkeley also gave Asa his first skinny dipping experience. I think he enjoyed it! I edited the second photo for graphic content but Asa's little butt was too cute to cover up!
Berkeley is working at Zimmer Rocky Mountain again until he has to go back to Texas for Security Forces training. We have not heard when he will be going back, but it could be as soon as October or as late as January. Right now we are just enjoying the time we have together and not even thinking about tech school yet. I am doing really well. Adjusting to life as a mother has been quite a challenge for me, but I finally am feeling like I am in somewhat of a comfortable routine with Asa. He is doing so much better in so many ways and life is a lot more fun for the both of us. His fussiness has decreased drastically over the last couple weeks and he has started taking fairly good naps...in his bed! I have fallen in love with these two items...
We recently switched Asa from Prevacid to Zantac. By the second day of being on Zantac, Asa has become considerably less fussy and the amount he spits up has decreased. I am so happy that this medicine is working for him.
We bought this Acid Reflux Pillow online. I had heard a lot of good things about it but was hesitant to buy one because they are a bit pricey. I just got so tired of Asa sleeping in his carseat where he looked so uncomfortable. We found a good deal on this pillow online and decided to give it a try. Asa still wakes up at night but his sleeping shifts are much more sound and his naps on this thing during the day are great!! As I type, Asa is sleeping on this pillow and has been asleep for almost two hours now. I am so glad we invested in this AR pillow.
Thanks to good naps, I have been able to start working out again almost daily for at least 30 minutes and it feels great! My sister-in-law Jackie introduced me to this...
It is awesome and so much fun to do! Plus, it gives you a pretty good workout in as little as 20 minutes.
Otherwise all is going really well for us right now. We are trying to make the most of summer by scheduling our week with activities to do when Berkeley gets home. We just get so tired of sitting around or watching TV. This is our first attempt at a scheduled week, so I will let you know how it goes. I hope all of you are doing well and enjoying life.

Big Personality in a Little Bitty Body!
Who needs toys when you've got feet!?
Apparently I am hilarious! I'm so glad we finally caught him laughing on video!
Last, tummy time is no more! Now he is off of his tummy in 5 seconds tops!

There is No Safe Place!
I found out recently that one of my old seminary teachers was arrested for supposedly having a sexual relationship with one of his 16 year old students. I am disgusted. It really is a sign of the times when you can't even send your children into a place of worship, such as a seminary building, without having to worry about their safety! What a scary time to raise children. It is always so sad to me when I hear of trusted individuals in a position of authority, especially a religious leader, who abuse their power and do awful things to those they should be setting an example for. Ugh. I feel so horrible for his poor wife and children and for the girl that he took advantage of. I guess I must add that he has not been charged yet, so if he is not proven guilty then I can't be his judge(or others like him). Only God has that right. It just makes me sad to see our moral and ethical standards deteriorating so badly and so quickly.

Blogging Question
So how do I get my contact list to show blogs that have been updated recently? Mine still just shows the blog names and I have to browse each one to check for updates. It is a pain in the royal behind.

Independence Day!
Happy 4th of July!! It was so nice to spend the 4th as a family! We went to the parade in the morning and the weather was so perfect. It was overcast and cool the whole time and that made the parade much more enjoyable. Asa was very attentive to the parade in the beginning...
About half way through, he started nodding off a little bit and this was the result. The bands, sirens and truck horns didn't bother him at all. He must have been really tired.
He slept like a rock through the entire second half of the parade and through the walk home.
We bought Asa a little swimming pool so we spent some time playing in that. I think Berk and I are more excited than we want to admit that we have a little pool to lounge in. It doesn't seem silly because we have the excuse of taking Asa swimming when really it is us that wants to play in the pool.

I Love Summertime
We had a welcome home BBQ for Berkeley on Monday night with the Ward family. The kids were all playing in a little pool, so Berkeley decided to take Asa for a dip! He is fascinated with water and really seemed to enjoy it.
On Tuesday we drove to Provo and had a little cook-out with Nathaniel, Dorothy and Chris. It was a lot of fun to hang out together.
Last, we started feeding Asa rice cereal and Oatmeal yesterday! Here is a video of his first experience with spoon feeding! He does a great job!
